VARGIS Awarded Three Photogrammetric Services Projects

Sterling, VA, May, 2005 – VARGIS LLC has been awarded contracts for the production of color digital orthophotography, LiDAR, and planimetrics services for the Town of Christiansburg, Town of Blacksburg, and Montgomery County all within the State of Virginia.

The total areas encompass approximately 400 square miles. The aerial mission will be flown during the Spring 2005 flying season. LiDAR data will be captured to generate 2-foot contours and 4-foot contours to meet FEMA specifications. High resolution digital orthophotos will be produced with a 0.25’ (3”) pixel resolution. In addition, the new imagery will be used for a planimetric update covering the entire 400 square miles. The county and towns will use the finished products to meet their needs to update topographic maps, perform utility and transportation planning, develop hydrologic modeling, and perform assessment of natural hazards.
