VARGIS Selected for Color Digital Orthophotography Project

STERLING, VA, April, 2005 – VARGIS, LLC has been selected by Frederick County, Maryland to produce county-wide digital color orthophotography and 2-foot contours for the entire 664 square miles of the county.

Frederick County is a fast-growing urban area located approximately 50 miles northwest of D.C. To satisfy planning, engineering, construction and public demand for accurate, detailed and current data, the County has selected VARGIS to update its digital orthophtography with higher resolution imagery and to obtain topographic contour data. The final deliverables will meet or exceed US National Map Accuracy Standards for 1"=100’ (1:2400) mapping. Deliverables will include 6" pixel color digital orthophotos, DEM, 2-foot contours, and spot elevation data. Digital orthophotography and topographic data will become available for Intranet/Internet mapping applications, County staff and other political subdivisions, county and local government agencies, and to the public. A fee schedule and license agreement applies to all released material.
