VARGIS Completes Geospatial/IT Systems Analysis
for Jones Onslow Electric Cooperative

STERLING, VA; September 01, 2004 - VARGIS was selected by Jones Onslow Electric Cooperative, based out of Jacksonville, North Carolina, to provide consulting services for their GIS and IT systems. The project involved analysis and recommendations for improvment of the company’s existing mapping/GIS systems, mobile mapping applications, interfaces between CIS, OMS, Network Analysis and SCADA systems.

The systems review included detailed analysis of the company’s routine service order, outage restoration, and engineering/work order processes. Recommendations were designed to assist the EMC in its consideration of the most appropriate evolution of its information systems. VARGIS was assisted by Wind Lake Solutions of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Jones Onslow has also contracted VARGIS to perform repositioning of the poles, electric network and all land-base features to their GPS locations and Orthophotos. VARGIS has developed a unique process that was defined, tested and is now being implemented to get the required accuracy.
