VARGIS Selected by PSEG for
Strategic GIS Solution for Gas Delivery

VARGIS announced today that Public Service Enterprise Corporation (PSEG) has awarded a comprehensive contract involving on-site staff augmentation, development of system interfaces, and the design and development of analytics and reporting for the PSE&G gas distribution system. The project involves an aggressive schedule to begin immediately and be completed before the end of 2005.

VARGIS will act as prime contractor working with Velocitie Integration and Wind Lake Solutions to provide a team experienced in ArcGIS and ArcFM design and implementation to support the PSE&G project. Mr. Greg Tilley, VARGIS president, stated, “VARGIS is excited to be selected by PSE&G. This type of comprehensive project is representative of the kinds of services in demand. The schedule requires expertise necessary for a quick start, solid project management to keep all the tracks moving toward completion, and adequate capacity to meet the schedule without compromising quality or functionality.” Mr. Tilley continued by noting, “the addition of Velocitie and Wind Lake Solutions to the project team are perfect complements to VARGIS. We foresee this team as being in position to offer an excellent solution to geospatial projects across the utility industry.”

Ms. Alice MacPhee, PSE&G Project Manager, stated “PSE&G Gas Delivery is implementing a GIS solution to address gaps and inefficiencies in facility information availability, asset management planning and maintenance functions, emergency response, and customer asset management processes. VARGIS was selected from a national search to simultaneously work on three tracks that converge to achieve the primary objective of developing a connected facilities/customer model with applications to maintain and perform analytics/reporting on the same.”

Earlier this year, VARGIS was awarded 2 other projects, through a competitive bid process, which involved conversion of PSE&G’s Gas Wall maps and Geocoding the Gas services.

The Gas GIS solution is aimed at integrating the fully converted district wall maps with the target data model and performing external system data conversion and reconciling them with the wall map data. This conversion / reconciliation will also include connecting service data with facilities. Live and batch interfaces will be built with PSE&G’s Work Management System (DWMS) and Customer Information System (CIS) to facilitate ongoing maintenance and generate reports on the connected model.
